Olight ArkPro Review: The Upgrade EDC Flashlight Fans Have Been Waiting For
OLIGHT ARKPRO REVIEW
Olight has been a very popular competitor in the EDC flashlight world for a while now but for many they have had one major flaw… That is until now. With the recent release of their new Olight ARKPRO line of flashlights they appear to be listening to the community.

First off I was extremely impressed with the fit and finish of this flashlight. I am normally a standard black flashlight person but as soon as I pulled this thing out of the box I was mesmerized be the dual color of what Olight is calling their Silver Graphite color option. I began examining the light and noticed in many ways it was still very similar to its predecessor, the Arkfield Pro that I have been a fan of for years now. Then I saw it… I lifted the, for lack of better words, the door on the side of the flashlight and there it was, A USB-C charging port. This really caught me off guard. It even caused me to flip the light around and to look and check if they were even still including their proprietary magnetic base charger. It was still there of course, they just decided to listen to the EDC community and give us what we had been asking for, for what seems like forever now.

From there I went on to check out the rest of the features on the flashlight. This is where I discovered another key feature. Unlike many other EDC flashlights, you either get a spotlight, a floodlight, or they do their best at somewhat combining the two. With the ArkPro there is a toggle switch that lets you choose between either a spotlight or a floodlight. Then if you toggle all the way over to the left you switch it over into UV-Light mode. I myself don’t find much use in a UV-Light on an EDC flashlight but if you haven’t had any experience with one and you really want a scare then take it to a old single stall gas station restroom, turn on the UV-Light, then switch off the light to the restroom itself and I bet you don’t stick around to actually use the bathroom. I would much rather see a red light option in this space.

Back to the spotlight and floodlight options. They both have more light output than many will ever need in a EDC flashlight but I for one am someone who would rather have the extra light output and not need it, then to need more and not have it in the light. Lately, I have found the most use out of this light walking in and out of my whitetail hunting spots in the early morning and late evenings. It is for this very use that I really wish this thing had a red light option on it. I could use the red light option when walking into my stand and try and preserve some of my “night vision” while climbing up into my stand.

This light also features a green laser on it and I do find a little more use for this than the UV-Light. If you work in an industrial or construction environment where you might be trying to point out piping or sections of framing at high levels you can use the laser to help you point out exactly what you are talking about. They have moved it from the toggle switch selection, like on previous Arkfield models, to a small square button on the side of the light. You also have the option to select between two brightness modes on the laser.

As per usual on almost all of Olight’s flashlights, it features a versatile deep carry pocket clip on it that also allows you to clip this thing onto a hat and use it as a headlamp. They also really did it right. They didn't just screw the pocket clip onto the body of the flashlight. They actually milled out a spot in the body so the pocket clip is recessed into the body of the light. When a pocket clip is done like this it just makes it that much smoother when sliding it into your pocket. It will also be a lot less likely to fray your pockets.

With being a gear reviewer I have several other flashlights from multiple other brands and as of right now I don’t see another light manufacturer that is matching up next to Olight when it comes to innovating all areas of there flashlights. You can count on it, they are constantly adding features, updating materials, and just all around striving to make there lights the best they can be.
